1965 Rambler Classic 550 Station Wagon

In the spring of 1987, our friend Mark bought a 1965 Rambler Classic 550 station wagon. Mark put a 1966 199 engine in it. It was our first experience with the glories of Ramblers. Mark would alway pipe up "It's a Rambler!!!" with funny harmonic overtones... gruff at the beginning, rising in pitch, and almost giggling at the end of his exclamation. He meant every word of it. Here is Jean in the Rambler:

Jean and Mark:

We bought the car from Mark later that summer. It was actually Urbana's car. I still had my '55 GMC Pickup. You can see the famous stainless steel bowl from this article. I recently made popcorn in it, and you can see a picture of the bowl in 2005. Urbana's mom was a big fan of Junior Mints with popcorn, and the tradition has continued. Here I'm putting brakes on the front. Always use jack stands!!:

You can see Urbana's foot in the picture. You can also see the brake shoes and outer bearing. At that point in time, you could buy brake shoes for a Rambler anywhere.

Those are all of the photographs we have. Maybe Mark or Jean have some more. If so, I'll put them up.

While putting the rest of the front grill of Ruby, our '63 American, together, I lost one of the screws for the radiator shrouding. I looked through my old parts can and found one of the valve cover screws from our old '65 Rambler Classic Wagon. Here is a picture:

It works just fine. I ended up finding the correct screw, but I decided to leave the screw from our first Rambler in Ruby.
