Removing the Front Fender

The front fenders on the 61-63 Rambler Americans are some of the few body pieces that can easily be removed. To remove the fender, remove the door, radiator and grill. Check out 42 years of dirt underneath the fender:





The dirt collects water, and then slowly rusts the metal below:



Nothing is rusted through, yet. The wheel well still had most of the undercoating in place. We plan to remove any flaky undercoating and treat any bare spots with some rust replacement and new 3M undercoating:
